After winning a discrimination case with the Human Rights Commission, Gian Sangha admits to feeling “fed up” with the system. He’s disappointed with persisting stereotypes – “hidden type discrimination” – relating to cultural symbols like his turban.

Skilled immigrants adopt Canada as their new country. They want to work. Sangha says the government should take advantage of their skills, especially since Canada has spent nothing on their education.

Instead of leaving so many new immigrants underutilized in low-paying service sector jobs, Sangha says the Canadian government must improve the way highly skilled immigrants are regarded, “otherwise the system will collapse.”

Most professional immigrants arrive with a family, so how can they survive [without work]?
